   You gotta have a Fortress.  Okay, so the idea may be a little bellicose for the squeamish - but where are you going to sequester maidens?  How do you defend when the peasants act up?  Suppose the King wants to visit?  Or pillage the countryside?  Remember last time when he brought that Trebuchet?  So you want a place of refuge for the villagers, a place to have banquets, a couple of sally ports - you just can't really function as a despot these days without a Fortress.
