These Pine wood pentagons are useful where KD hardwood products would be too expensive or where the item is to be painted. They take paint or stain well and sand easily. They are softer than hardwoods. Pine is a wonderful, versatile material that has strangely gotten the reputation for being mediocre. I don't know why. Our squares have smooth edges and crisp corners. It's easy to soften the edges and corner with a little sandpaper.
