Beginner A & B Kits
The Beginner A & B kits are for youngsters in
the range from 4-5. They are the same size (weight/volume) but the
Beginner A is more detailed and has fewer large pieces while the B
kit has fewer pieces but more big ones.

The Walker Book Kit
Our favorite book on Block Play is Lester
Walker's Block Building for Children. This book has a
number of projects that are suitable for building and does an
excellent job of explaining various stages in the process.
However, like any book of this sort, it starts out with a list of
pieces necessary for making the projects. The kit below is
designed to go with this book and includes all of the necessary
pieces, plus some optional pieces that the book recommends for
expanded play.

Beginner Kit D
This is a very chunky kit assembled on the basis of
the Bank St. School Kit. Numerous authors of books on Block
Play recommend this school kit, but unfortunately, it is designed for 14
children. By the magic of long division, we've modeled our
kit to be a similar assembly designed for one or two children.
Like a lot of school Kits, it is missing many of the fine detail
pieces. Instead, it is assembled of large, simple pieces that
lend themselves to the play of children around the age of 5. If you
are looking for a kit with mostly big pieces, this is the kit for
you.

Beginner Kit C
This is a "tweeny" kit. It consists of
the Beginner Kit "A" (above), plus a large additional box of the
basic rectangles. It lies somewhere between the Beginner Kit "A"
and the kits that are found on the next page (Standard Kits). It is
a good deal larger than the Beginner Kit "A" (one and a half times),
but smaller than the Base Kit "A" found in the Standard Kits. It's
the right kit for the person who wants a Beginner Kit but would like
to "go long" for the child who is already playing with blocks and
enjoys them.
